ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM WITH HIGH-SPEED BAR CODE SCANNER
A shopping mall is a building or group of
buildings that contains stores. The stores are connected by walkways so that
consumers can easily walk between the stores. Movie theaters, Restaurants,
Department Stores, Stand-alone Shops, Food Court, Fast Food Chains, Grocery
Stores, Pharmacies, and even Playhouses for kids are available at malls. Shopping
malls are always crowded with different kinds of people. Most of the people are
rambling at malls during their leisure time and during meal times to look for a
restaurant or fast food chain. Some are with their kids, strolling, looking for
a place that their kids will enjoy and have fun, like, playhouses, toy stores,
or even gaming center.
Shopping mall managements want to know who
their customers are in order to be ready with a targeted offer. Knowing the
demographics—the gender and age group of the shoppers, when they shop, where
they stay the longest, what are the busiest areas in the mall and what they
look at is critical for maximizing their targeting efforts, thus, improving
sales.
We can observe that the busiest areas in
shopping malls include Grocery Stores and Department stores. Patience is really
necessary for costumers especially on paying system. In order to provide the
costumers, the faster services they want, I made an idea of making a new device
that will lessen the duration of time for them to line-up and wait for their
turn. The costumer has two options, whether to pay in cash or to use their bank
account. The device contains access control system where costumers’ swipe their
bank account cards. It will show all of the costumers’ sufficient savings for
them to decide how much money they will get from the card. Barcode scanner is
also built in the device. This is not just an ordinary barcode scanner, but a
stress-free high speed scanner. Costumers will just drop all their grocery
items and the scanner will do the part with a moving technological device. The
device will then summarize all the scanned items and its total cost. The
costumers will then have their options in paying and then receipts will be
automatically printed out from the device. The workers will then pack the
items. With more or less than 5 minutes, transaction will be finished.
Costumers will shop again and again with no sweat and no stress.
