Reflection (3 Idiots)
At the night of July 14, 2015, I rewatched the movie “3
Idiots”, an Indian comedy film directed by Rajkumar Hirani and a very famous
movie created by Bollywood in 2009. It took me more than three hours just to
finish watching this movie. Before, I really do not get the message of this
movie but when I saw it on the second time and watched alone, I finally get the
true message and understand the whole concept of the movie. I can say that this
movie is full of entertainment that I can assure the viewers will be enjoying
when they watched it. This movie is really funny and most of all this movie can
inspires a lot to the viewers especially to the students and most of all it
enlightens our mind. This movie consist of three main actors the first one is
Ranchoddas “Rancho” Shamaldas which played by Aamir Khan, the second
character/actor is Farhan Qureshi which is played by R. Madhavan and the third
actor is Raju Rastogi which is played by Sharman Joshi. So now I’m going to
elaborate and describe each character in that movie and give reflection to
them.
Ranchoddas Shamaldas, the lead and the most important
character in the movie, portrays the role of a man of genuine wisdom who
studied in Imperial College of Engineering for his simple enthusiasm on
machines and devices. Most of us went to college just for a degree.
No degree meant no plum job, no pretty wife, no credit card, and no social
status. But none of this mattered to him, he was in college for the joy of
learning, he never cared if he was first or last. He is someone who does
things in his own special and simple way. Even if it means defying their
director, being humiliated in class, or stuck in a difficult situation, he
never fails to get out of the mess while giving important lessons to be
learned. Almost everything he does and says, even if it may seem foolish, has a
sense. He makes people realize and understand things thoroughly. He is someone
you would glad being around with. Among all the cast, he was the very
remarkable and very inspiring actor that I had seen. He did a great job helping
all of his people around him.
Another thing that is admirable for this character is the
passion in studying and his great thinking capacity. It was learned at the
latter part of the movie that he was an orphan, secretly attending school and
such, yet he still managed to gain knowledge. He love studying so much that he
will do everything just to learn, even if everything means studying in Imperial
College of Engineering bearing other people’s name. But why would it matter? He
may not be carrying his own name, yet he will always carry the knowledge that
he had. Wherein that knowledge brought him to what he was years after. This
thought only shows that all material things could be stolen from people yet the
knowledge would be yours alone and no one could ever snatch it away from you.
It was also shown in the movie how Rancho cherish his friends especially those
who are dearest to him, Farhan and Raju. Since they were labelled as 3 idiots,
with him as the leader, his two other friends would always get in trouble. But
no matter what happened, no matter his friend turns his back on him, no matter
if he got scolded by the parents of his friends, he would never leave them and
would always be there in times of trouble. He loves his friends too much that
he would help them see what’s right, how reality works, how important it is to
consider one’s self and follow what the heart desires. He encouraged them to
overcome their fears and face the future with chins held high. He taught them
that passion would make everything put into place, and that burdens won’t make
a person become stronger, instead they become weak. His words were encouraging
enough which earned him great respect from his friends. He taught them
everything they could learn from life. Most importantly, he taught them the
most encouraging words – pursue excellence, and success will pursue you. Rancho
is a good friend not only to his close friends, but also to others. Like
millimeter, he gave him money to buy uniform and attend school, and later on,
when he had his own school, he invited him to go to his school and become
centimeter, better yet kilometer. For the student who committed suicide, he
helped him finish his project only to find him hanging himself. The incident
caused Rancho’s doubts in the school system and believed that it is not a
suicide, but a murder. For the daughter of their director, Pia, he immediately
noticed how materialistic her fiancé was. He showed her a precise example of
his point and gave her an advice which is to run away. However, that incident
was followed one after another which made their feelings for each other to grow
and develop. And even if they were away from each other for how many years,
their love for each other didn’t end. The love became their link and that’s
what made them reunite with each other. I guess that’s how love really works.
On the latter part of the movie, it was shown that after their graduation, he
started to live a new life, bearing his real name Phunsukh Wangdu. He became a
scientist with 400 patents. Built a school full of technologies and teach
students, being chased by Japanese investors and even the person who always
challenge him when they’re still in college. All in all, his success is beyond
comparison. His life shows that in life, passion, perseverance, strong will,
and trust in one’s self are needed to survive the struggles and be excellent.
Indeed, life can be measured on how a person handles it. Truth to be told, I
want to be like him, knowing what to do and say in certain situations, full of
wisdom and enlightenments. His words are like can openers and would make you
realize that he is definitely right. His actions could make you think that, not
everything is taught in school, instead, it is just around us. His foolish acts
could sometimes lead into something great which could teach people that we are
just humans, and acting foolishness is not that stupid, better yet you could
learn from it. His love for his friends could make you love your friends even
more. His passion in studying makes you think that working with passion makes
work less difficult. His chant, all is well, could comfort you in several ways
and could even create a positive thinking. Rancho also believes that success in
engineering is not achieved by memorizing the contents or the definition given
by textbooks or professors but success in engineering achieved by understanding
and applying it in concepts. Yes, I do agree with the statement of Rancho that
we should not be dependent on the contents or the definition of the books or
the lessons given by our teachers because it is limited only. We should explore
more things in our own so that we can get and we can gain more knowledge. I
remember before, one of my professor said that we should explore new things in
our own and discover it in our own ways because he is just our instructor or
facilitator and that he cannot give everything to us. So what he did to us, his
students, is that he made a thing that would teach us to explore and discover
new things. Another inspiring message that Rancho said to the movie was, he
believes that one should follow excellence, not success, as success will come
by itself if excellence is followed. In this piece of line, I absolutely say
that it is very true. You cannot be successful in life if you do not have
excellent mind. Excellence does not only mean that you are intelligent or
whatsoever but it’s the strategies and techniques that you make in order to be
successful one someday. Rancho is completely different from his classmates. He
is different the way he thinks, the way he act and the way he handle things and
people around. We all know that Rancho is very fan of asking questions but he
asked questions at the right places and in the right time. He makes simpler the
concepts in the textbooks and come up with bright ideas which I think his
classmates does not have. There was a scene in the movie that Rancho said that
going to school is not all about having good grades, it is all about learning
and gaining knowledge in what we do. So this is his mind set. Yes, it is
definitely right. For me as student, having or getting good grades in school is
not enough without learning and gaining knowledge in whatever I do. Another
statement in the movie, Rancho said is that to make your passion your profession.
As I watched the movie, I can see that Rancho is very passionate in his
profession. He did the things in his field with passion and determination. And
I do believe in this line that loving and have a passion in your profession
will bring you into success. He also mentioned in the movie that he learned
technology not only with passion but he learned with all his heart and never
stopped finding new things. It is true, we need to put our hearts in what we do
and never stop finding new things so that we can be successful someday. Rancho
plays a role of a great adviser in the movie to his two friends namely Farhan
and Raju and the people around. Every time his friends encountered problems,
Rancho is on the rescue by giving the right advice to them. He is a very funny
person. Every time they were together they were very happy and they make jokes
to everyone. Rancho mentioned that he thinks of a school that, it’s not a race.
But it is a place of enlightening ideas, gaining knowledge and dedication for
study. And he also said that life is not a race, if you do not run fast, you
will be like a broken cuckoo bird. So it means that we need to work hard and we
need to be excellent so that we can’t be left behind the race of life. One of
the characteristics that I admired most to him is that he was very eager in
finding solutions especially when the father of his best friend Raju brought to
the hospital. At the end, Rancho has conquered the struggles in his life one by
one with his bravery, excellence, intelligence, self-confidence and a lot more.
But sad to say he vanished without saying goodbye to his two friends –Farhan
and Raju and to his beloved lover. Rancho is the person who really wants to
learn in a simple way. I remember, he told the professor why make things difficult
if you could explain it simple. Rancho will always be an intelligent man in so
many ways. He loves to learn many things around him. He likes to explore and
try to invent something that comes out with his mind. He always think,
especially when dealing with new creations he was about to think, he always
reach his hands to the needy. As a friend with Farhan and Raju, he cannot be
compared to anyone because he is a person that always think of his friends
first than himself. He really cares his friends and really enjoys the company
with them. What I never forget in him in the movie is his great mind, the way
he bring himself to others, the way he deal with others and thinking new ideas
to create new technology. His thinking capacity really helps him to think new
ideas, he easily thinks and he is confident of what he wanted to create. Rancho
never give up in things, except love, I think so. He is not ashamed in talking
people instead he shares what he is thinking, his ideas and what he believes.
Rancho has principles in life, he believes on what he really thinks is right
and also what he do what he wanted to do. He is actually unbelievable because
of the quality that he has. I would say he is amazing with his works, his
influences that he brought to the school, professors, and classmates especially
Farhan and Raju. Rancho is different among his two friends because since birth
Rancho loves in learning new things. He is a lucky person because though he did
not the real Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad, he was given a chance to go to
school and learn many things that he wanted to learn. The father of the real
Rancho was settled a contract. This contract was to use the name of Ranchoddas
Shamaldas Chanchad because Rancho was really a brilliant child; he is studios rather
than the real Rancho. Though is not good for both of them, still they took
advantage each of them. Rancho is unique among the students of Imperial College
of Engineering because he is the only one who would opposed to a professor, he
says what he thinks, he never afraid what people may think of him as long as he
believe with himself that he is right. Rancho to his friends, he is really a
good friend because he always look for what is best to his friends. He really
values the friendship that he had with Farhan and Raju. In the movie he bet
Professor Virus that he is surely believes that his friends Farhan and Raju
could get a job after they will graduate. My reflection with Rancho is being
nice to my friends, though not always but I looked up what is best for my
friends. With all of those, it is not difficult to love his character. He is
close to perfect that there is nothing that I can compare myself with him. I
totally admire his character. Not to mention, I learned a lot from him, and
that is, I should be aware of my fears and should gain courage to overcome
them. I need not to make my life difficult, but make it easy for me to be able
to handle it well. Things may go wrong but with confidence and trust in myself,
I would be able to go through them. Lastly, the world is a vast place, I should
not let myself drown in my miseries, but enjoy the happiness and joy that life
could bring.
“Pursue excellence and success will
follow.”
It is a very simple rule from Rancho, to abide because it merely implies that
we must do our part by consistently working with passion, persistence, faith
and leaving the rest to God. We do not need to be anxious whether or not we can
become successful for it is guaranteed. Being successful does not only refer to
the worldly perspective of having a lot of money but the true essence of
success is what you have become in reaching your goals. Another quote that
gives me encouragement is the line “All is well”. It is really
quite simple but those words gave me courage in facing every task, after all I
believe that tasks are not regarded as problems and a problem is never a
difficulty for without it, we would not grow and become what we are now.
I can say that those words had influenced me the most
because it meant a thing that mostly students do not see, it is the opportunity
and delight of learning. Learning and study is never a duty but a thing to
cherish because those two things are for us to experience and discover things
that sooner or later will be applicable to our lives in the present or even in
the future. I find this movie very inspiring and motivating especially as a
student, it directs me to a different but effective ways on how to deal with my
studies.
The second character of the movie 3 idiots is Farhan
Qureshi. Farhan Qureshi was forced to study engineering to pursue his
father’s wishes. Farhan actually wanted to be a professional wildlife
photographer as his profession. In the movie, I can see Farhan was very sad of
being an engineer because he wanted to be a wildlife photographer. He really
loves taking photos of animals and whatever wildlife things and he said that
this is his passion. Well that situation of Farhan in the movie, he got scolded
by his father because he insist to his father that he wanted to become a
wildlife photographer. His parent really invest money and do whatever they can,
sacrifices everything and up to the point that his father put air conditioner
in the Farhan’s room in order to have a comfortable while studying just for the
Farhan’s studies and to finish the engineering course, for Farhan’s better
future and most of all he wanted his son to be a rich man. Farhan was lucky
enough for being of one passers over thousands of applicants who took entrance
exam at the Imperial College of Engineering but he was not happy because his
passion and his heart is on photography. In the university where he belongs,
there are instances that he was called his attention together with his friends
by their strict professor Mr. Virus because of what they were done. In the
movie, Rancho became the inspiration of Farhan because of his statement “Make
your passion, your profession”. Because of this statement, Rancho’s help Farhan
to realized where his passion lay and pursue the dream to become a wildlife
photographer. Though a profession like wildlife photographer cannot bring him
as much money as a career in engineering but still he follow his heart and
pursue his dream as a wildlife photographer because of his passion and love in
this field. After the years, his friends Rancho, Raju and Pia surprised him
good news that he will be going for an interview from one of the best and
professional photographer from Hungary but he refused it because of his fear to
his father. But after that, Farhan has chances to live out his dream, capturing
the beautiful moment’s life brought by. At the end, Farhan was able to confess
to his dad that he does not want to be an engineer. I was moved at the moment
when Farhan tried to convince his father to let him follow his passion as a wildlife
photographer, but I was very touched at the moment when his father slowly
closed the new laptop which is a new gift to Farhan as congratulation in
getting an engineering job. Farhan said to his father if it could be exchanged
that laptop into a good camera for his passion, in this moment I almost cried
because I was touched with their sincere and emotional conversation. At the
end, Farhan became a successful wildlife photographer authoring various
photography books.
Moreover, the quote “make your passion your profession and
work will become a game” teaches me to do things that my heart is
yearning for, to follow my true passion, to chase what I really want for my
life without others to decide and interfere. In chasing my dreams, faith must
be considered as my confederate. It will be my greatest assistant in order to
determine my real dreams and guide me to follow it. In addition to, the movie
also teaches that people only live once and even in the worst of times, we must
not surrender. Continue living with faith and always remember that all is well.
It inspires me to see that life is beautiful and that every day is always a
present and chance for me to live my life to the fullest. Lastly, I realized
that learning is really important.
Surprisingly, his friends send the letter he made for a
photographer based in Hungary. He did not pursue on sending the letter to him
but his friends did. And because of his photography skills, Andre Istvan – the
photographer, wanted Farhan to assist him. But fear once again conquered him,
thinking that his father will never agree on his decision. That it might be the
cause of trouble in their family. He has no guts left inside of him when they
talk about his father. But Rancho, ever the man full of wisdom said this to Farhan
“Go speak to him… from your heart. For once dump your fears, or someday, in
your deathbed, you will regret it. With just little courage, you could have
turned your life around.”, and maybe that was all Farhan needed to have this
courage. And finally had the face to talk to his father with his life
intentions. Though he had doubts about it, Farhan dared to defy his father.
Tangled in the heated argument, he stood firm on what he believed. Feelings
were pouring as he tried to defend his decision. And finally after a long talk,
his father opened his heart, mind and soul and gave in to his decision. As a
parent, all he wanted to his son is pure happiness. If being a photographer can
make his son happy then so be it. He agreed to support him and provide all the
things he needed throughout his journey as a wildlife photographer. See,
nothing can be done without small talks. It may seem hard as first because
Farhan’s father only wanted him to be an engineer, but then, it was Farhan’s
personal choice to be a photographer. All he had to do is to support him all
the way. The little step he took, the courage he built, and the confidence he
gained, made him overcome fear and face the reality. And by overcoming fear, he
had truly found his happiness. Despite of everything he had been through, he
was able to pursue his passion and became someone who he wanted to be. Farhan
drops school and became a wildlife photographer. He pursued his dreams. He hit
two birds with one stone, he was able to do with the work that he really loves
and he was able to earn money from it. His character tells us how one should
stand up unto one's passion.
It was shown in the movie the importance of the people who
surrounds you. Yes, you have a built in support group which is your family.
But, what if things would turn? Your family does not support you all the way.
Just like in Farhan’s case, his family, especially his father the day he was
born already announced what should be his fate when the time comes that he will
be able to stand up on his own. All Farhan can do is to obey his father’s
decision for him. He has fear. Fear that his father will throw him away as a
part of the clan once he disobeys him. Fear that he does not have the guts and
courage to defend on his chosen path. But, the stars were on Farhan’s hand
because of having Rancho on his side, Rancho is one of the people who motivated
him to follow his dreams—to let go of his fears. To face his father and tell
him what he wants to do. To have the courage on taking the journey he always wants
to begin with. In the first place, he made the right choice on standing on his
decision to stay as friends with Rancho even though the director and his father
wanted him to move from Rancho’s side. The people that surround you will always
be the next after your family. As long as they believe in your capabilities,
they will support you just like how the family supports you. Not all the time
you will bring your family with you, but as the proxy, the people that surround
you will also guide you to the right way where they think you really belong to.
People like these always come in surprises. Once you have found them, keep
them. You may not meet any other person in this world who will support you in
your ups and downs. If were to I put my feet on Farhan’s shoes, I will feel
fear also. I will have doubts also. Knowing that my decision will affect the
whole family. But, nothing can happen without a good talk. Our parents will
always be there no matter what. Yes, they have their own dreams for us. They
have their own goals for us. They will give us what we want. But nothing can
beat the real joy in life when your parents will give their blessings to
whatever chosen career path you will be taking as long as it will not harm you,
they will support you all the way. And as a responsibility as a child, you must
make them proud that you were able to make decisions on your own and you can
stand up through all the ups and downs on your own two feet. Nothing can beat
seeing the smiles on your parents’ faces once you have showed them what you
have achieved. As for myself, though I was really indecisive, I made sure that
once I have made my decision I seek first the reaction of my parents. The day I
have decided to take up this course was one of the biggest decisions I have
ever made. It is my future I am deciding into. It will be who I am in the next
year. When I asked my parents about this, they just said,"Go. We will
support you with your journey.” There is one thing that is common with me
and Farhan, is that he never regret his decision of choosing his dreams over
his father’s dream to him and so am I choosing this course over those courses.
Farhan was sufficiently fortunate for being of one passers
over a large number of candidates who took placement test at the Majestic
School of Designing yet he was not cheerful on the grounds that his enthusiasm
and his heart is on photography. In the college where he has a place, examples
he was assembled his consideration with his companions by their strict educator
Mr. Virus on account of what they were finished. In the film, Rancho turned
into the motivation of Farhan in light of his announcement "Make your
enthusiasm, your calling". In light of this announcement, Rancho's help
Farhan to acknowledged where his enthusiasm lay and seek after the fantasy to
turn into a natural life picture taker. Despite the fact that a calling like
natural life picture taker can't bring him as much cash as a profession in
designing yet at the same time he take after his heart and seek after his fantasy
as an untamed life photographic artist as a result of his enthusiasm and love
in this field. After the years, his companions Rancho, Raju and Pia astounded
him uplifting news that he will be going for a meeting from one of the best and
expert picture taker from Hungary yet he denied it as a result of his
trepidation to his dad. In any case, after that, Farhan has opportunities to
experience his fantasy, catching the lovely minute's life brought by. Toward
the end, Farhan had the capacity admit to his father that he wouldn't like to
be an architect. I was moved right when Farhan attempted to persuade his dad to
give him a chance to take after his enthusiasm as an untamed life picture
taker, yet I was exceptionally touched exactly when his dad gradually shut the

landing a designing position. Farhan said to his dad in the event that it could

The third student at the Imperial College of Engineering is Raju
Rastogi. He took the course of engineering in that university for his
purpose to raise his family’s fortunes and brought it up from the poverty. Raju
is a bread winner in the Rastogi family. Compared to Rancho and Farhan, he
belongs to a poor family. He had a sick father who was once a postman, a mother
who is retired and an unwed sister that could not marry because they could not
afford the dowry that the family of the groom wanted. He wanted to be an
engineer because he wanted to make his parents happy and could provide a good
life for his family. He is a type of person in which he values his family so
much because for them, he is their last hope for their family. He really wanted
to finish and graduate engineering because for him it would give him a stable
job and could offer him a salary to suffice the needs of his family. In the
movie, he is the serious one and don’t want to be distracted by the doings of
his friends Rancho and Farhan and so he decided to move to another room so that
he could stay focus on studying his lessons but it did not went well because
his friends made a plan to make him realize that they are good company and not
Chatur. He thought that he is in bad company his friends would distract him in
his studies and would be the reason for his failures in class. But he was
completely wrong, because even though he moved to another room, lie lowed from
his friends but in the end they are the one who helped his father to be brought
right away to the hospital especially Rancho. Raju Rastogi was afraid of all
the things inside the college especially in his professor named Virus
Sahastrabuddhe. He was so pessimistic in his life and he was too desperate to
cure the disease of his father that was suffering in paralysis in his body.
When the day came that his father’s disease was too severe, his friend Rancho
tried to help his father. Rancho used his motorcycle together with his friend
Pia to accompany the paralyzed body of his father to the hospital. Raju’s heart
was about to explode when he saw his father dying in pain. And when the time
passed by, his father seemed to be okay and all of it was caused by Rancho’s
determination to help save his father. Then Rancho told Raju to be positive
always. Then Raju slowly realized how valuable friendship is and he was
enlightened with those words Rancho gave him and hugs his friend as tight as he
can.
As he continues learning in the college of engineering, he
had gain lots of experience together with his two best friends. One day, when
they got drunk and they were at the middle of the conversation which involved
Rancho’s admiration to Pia, they both agreed that if Rancho would successfully
tell Pia what he really felt for her, Raju would have to go to a job interview
and Farhan would tell his parents especially his father that he really wanted
to be a wildlife photographer rather than to be an engineer. Soon, they both
concur with these agreements while they were drunk. Raju and Farhan dared
Rancho to go to Pia’s House to tell what his true feelings for her were. Rancho
and his friends finally reached the house and Rancho slowly told Pia about her
feelings. While they were in the middle of conversation, Raju decided to go
away because they already knew that Pia’s father which is Prof. Virus was
approaching towards them. They pee the door of the house and ran away as fast
as they can. Soon Prof. Virus noticed the face of Raju because he was drank at
that moment. Prof. Virus told a police man to find them, but they successfully
entered their class room inside the college. They slept inside the classroom
and then they didn’t even notice that they were already late because they got
drunk. On that day, Prof. Virus told Raju to go to his office, then Raju and
his professor had a little conversation. The conversation involved the topic of
his parents and what would be the result for being expelled in the college
where he was currently studying. So far, the professor would not tolerate the
incident happened in his house last night that Raju and his friends had been drunk
and got into trouble. His professor told Raju that he would be expelled in the
college if he wouldn’t follow the instruction that was given to him. The
instruction that was given to him by his Professor was not simple. This
instruction involved his parents and his friend Rancho. He was commanded to
choose either his family or his friend that would be an exchange for the
purpose that he wouldn’t be expelled in the college. At the moment when he was
choosing between the two of them, he didn’t choose anything at all rather he
chose to commit suicide. He jumped off from the third floor and gained lots of
injuries from his body.
His friend Rancho helped him immediately and they carried
him all the way to the hospital. Rancho was determined to make him alive. He
tried his best to help Raju fight for his life at that moment. However, Rancho
was successful of all the things he made just to help Raju recover from his
severe injuries. In fact, Raju was determined to continue his dream of becoming
an engineer and to graduate and help his parents. He was successful of finding
a job interview and soon gained a job with the help of his best friends.
Raju was a good example of a very weak student came from a
less fortunate family that was slowly uplifted and gained confidence to pursue
his dreams in life with the help of his ever true friends. As I reflect myself
into his life, I would probably say that I am also like him. The way he was so
weak and pressured and so pessimistic when he entered his college life, these characteristics
were all also the same to mine when I also entered my college life. During my
college life, I was also a pressured student and always look down to myself. I
like to be “self-pity” every time I got lower grades in each of my subjects
during college. Then, I slowly realized that these kind of attitudes where
definitely wrong for me. I ask God to help me recover from these sicknesses.
Committing suicide was never come to my mind to resolve these dilemmas in my
life. I trust God and put my heart just to love my course. I always pray to God
that he will always give me wisdom to understand the lessons that would be
tackled by our professors especially in programming subjects. So far, Raju’s
life touched my heart and he made me realize the true essence of learning how
to overcome stress and pressure. His story teaches me how to become a better
person and achieve a life that’s full of good vibes.
He is the one who did a lot of effort for it just to bring
Raju’s father to the hospital in time. And by that time, he realized that
friends will always be friends especially in times of troubles, trials and
difficulties. Our friends will be the one we can share our thoughts freely and
they will be always there for us no matter. True friends are really hard to find
and if you have them keep them and treasure them. There’s this incident in the
story wherein they the three friends were in trouble because they get drunk and
crashed on Mr. Virus’s house in the middle of the night because of their be on
Rancho that he should confess his feelings for Pia, Mr. Virus’s daughter. They
were in trouble because Mr. Virus woke up and been able to recognize one of
them and unfortunately, it was Raju. In the morning during their class, they
were caught by Mr. Virus because they fell asleep on their room and found a
bottle of rum with them and so Raju was invited by Mr. Virus in his office.
They talked on his office and gave Raju a warning. He will not be able to
graduate in time because of what happened last night and made a bargain with
him. He would erase his name on the list of students that will not graduate if
he will put the name of Rancho on it and will be his witness for such act. It
would be a very hard decision for Raju to make because it is a dilemma between
his future and his loyalty for his friend. If I were in Raju’s shoes, it would
be very hard and risky decision for me because, whatever I will choose there
would be a consequence for it. If I will choose to put my friend in danger in
replace for me, it would be him who will not be able to graduate and it would
be a lifetime guilt for me but if I will choose not to erase my name and not to
witness against my friend, I would be the one who will not graduate and would
bring disappointment to my family. I understand that he choose to jump off the
building and commit suicide because of mental pressure that he needed to decide
sometimes suicide is an person’s escape for all the problems that he is going
through. Committing suicide would not bring any good to us because it would not
resolve any issues in our lives but instead it would worsen the case. But in
Raju’s case he chose suicide than to sacrifice things that he valued the most.
He was hospitalized and everyone was very worried about him especially his
family and friends that love him so much. They did everything just to show Raju
that they are strong despite what happened to him because it would be great
help for him to wake up and recover easily. And fortunately after all their
efforts, Raju recovered from the incident and they all rejoiced for such good
news. I admired his determination because even though he just recovered from
his accident and his legs were still broken, he still went on their job
interview and answered all the interviewers’ questions confidently. I admired
also his attitude that he would not change himself just to please the
interviewers’. He said in his interview, “You keep your job and I’ll keep my
attitude”. Our attitude composes our being and it is made even stronger by the
experiences that we encountered in our lives. Just like Raju he is stronger now
because of what happened to him. He can be someone if he will just be
determined and strong to face the trials in life that he may face. In Raju’s
story, I learned that we should also conquer all our fears for tomorrow. Fear
is simply because you are not living with life, you are living in your mind.
Your fear is always about what’s going to happen next. That means your fear is
always about that which does not exist. If your fear is about the non-existent,
your fear is hundred percent imaginary. If you are suffering the
non-existential, we call that insanity. So, people may be in just socially
accepted levels of insanity, but if you’re afraid or if you’re suffering
anything which does not exist, it amounts to insanity, isn’t it?
As life goes on, things get more complicated. We are no
longer a child, but an adult who faces reality. Real life is nothing like fairy
tales. Problems are not being easily solved and confusions are everywhere.
There is never a long period of rest and peace. We should always be aware of
everything preventing us to live an easy life. Moments of sadness and misery
are much more frequent than those of happiness, filling your head with
indescribable madness. Life is not only black and white, but is different
shades of grey. No one is really right or wrong. Every person you trust may
suddenly be gone. Now you wonder if every choice you make in life is a bet.
What you can only do is to trust your instincts and prepare for the worst. Despite
the dark side, life can be full of excitement and surprises. As long as it is
interesting and fulfilling, this world is no longer cruel and cold. Warmth and
smiles still exist. Although there can be many bad times, never give up for a
moment until your last breath. As there is a saying that every cloud has a
silver lining, hope is always there for us. This is my reflection of the story
of Raju Rastogi.
The movie, 3 Idiots, enlightened my
mind and showed me the true meaning of education, how to be a successful
student, and most above all is the process of learning. If I have a given a
chance to choose which characters in the movie 3 idiots that I would like to be
is I would absolutely choose Rancho. I would like to be him in many reasons.
First is his thinking capacity. He has a great and brilliant mind in doing many
things in his life. He has always full of ideas and he is very good in his
chosen field. Second is his passion in his profession. Third is he is a great
adviser. In the movie, Rancho became a good adviser to his two friends. He
always reminds his friends to make your passion, your profession, that’s why
his friends realized many things because of this reminder he always said and
this said line by Rancho is really heartwarming and it’s really gratifying to
do the things that you really love and wanted rather than making a things that
you don’t really like or let’s say you don’t have a choice like in Farhan’s
situation. Another is he is very helpful especially when his friends
encountered problems in school or in family. He is always there willing to help
as long as he can. But the most important thing is he has a thoughtful mind in
which he thought every one of us a true meaning of education and how learning
is done. In general, I like the movie it inspires a lot and it gives more
knowledge to the viewers. This movie also reminds me the importance of a
friendship. In this world we cannot live in our own, so we find and we need
companion in our life because according to the saying “No man is an island”.
And this movie makes me think about my study, since now I am in my fourth year
in college and almost every moment is busy. Over-all, the movie for me was so
perfect, I enjoyed it, and I learned a lot of things which I can apply it in
everyday life and everywhere. So now I would like to end by this statement of
Rancho that life is a race, if you don’t run fast, you will be like a broken
egg of the cuckoo bird. So it is your decision whether to left or to run in the
race of life. Let us make sure that we always did our best so that we cannot
left in the race of life and make sure that we do not take the things for
granted in order to be successful in the future and in order to achieve our
goals in life. And remind yourself always about this word and say it "Aal
iz well".
To summarize the movie, it talks about the story of
friendship, hope, aspirations, importance of following your dreams and most
importantly, the goodness of life. These three characters will make you laugh,
cry and inspire. They will teach you how to be an outstanding student, harass
professors, singing and dancing with the engineering students, how to respect
and love other people especially to their loved ones. This movie shows us about
inspiration to students to go further with their studies. There are many
quotable lines that you will learn in this movie. There was one part of the
movie when their School Director mentioned that:” Life is a race, if you do not
run fast, you’ll get trampled.” For me as a student, I don’t agree with what he
has said because life is not a race that you need to compete with the others
but instead competing yourself by conquering your fears, how you face and
overcome them. We don’t need to run fast to win to be the first on the finish
line, cause life is a step by step process, you just have to enjoy your journey
in life to see and feel how each stride will nurture you. It is very normal to
get trampled, because it is a part of our journey and this will make us
stronger and in every time that we may fail there is a great lesson that we can
get from our failures. It’s not all the time that we grasp learning’s from
school, from our parents, friends, and teachers but of course learn to accept
failures on what trip you may take in life. Experience is the best teacher in
life. Another line from the movie was “Make your Passion your profession”, this
was stated by one of the lead characters in the story which is Ranchoddas
Shamaldas Chanchad or called as Rancho. It simply means that each of us has our
own potential in different fields. Some are good in solving equations but
others are not. Some are good in dancing, but others are not, instead they are
good in other fields. Only passion and interest will only make you excel but
not the field you choose. Passion is an intense emotion compelling feeling,
enthusiasm, or desire for something. As we enter college, we have different
purposes and reasons why we study and choose a field but we sometimes forget
that we pursue a degree because this is what we want to do in the future. In
choosing your career as a college student, by choosing your preferred course
make sure that it is really your preferred course not just suggested course of
your parents to avoid regrets. Like me I really wanted to be a registered nurse
someday but when I knew that my parents couldn’t provide my financial needs
because of some financial problems in life so I decided not to pursue my
preferred course but instead take up another course so that I can continue my
studies in college. I never regret on my decision even though it was hard for
me to accept the fact that I can't be a nurse. As days passed by, I learned to
love this course. To achieve what you want choose the things that you really
love, the things that will make you happy and satisfy. Keep on looking for the
things that you love. Another line that I like is “Believe in yourself”. Do not
worry about what others think about you”. I always believe that I can do more
in myself in whatever things I may do even if others think that I cannot do it because
I don't have the skills and knowledge to do it. Do not make your self-pity. If
we always think about the future and go beyond success, it might corrupt the
love in our minds and hearts in doing well in the present. It is always the
mind-sets of many people that after taking up a degree, we are already
successful. Do not go beyond success, because success might not come in the
future. Never try to be successful, pursue excellence because excellence always
creates success and it is a route of a continual progress. Don’t be afraid
about our future. Just follow our heart and be happy for all we’re doing.
Another line is “One should not study for getting a degree, but to learn and
gain knowledge”. I do believe in this saying because when you go to school you
want to learn something. This is the usual mindset of the students, even me.
Pressure may come at times from our family and off curs sometimes from our own.
Going to university everyday just to comply requirements, projects and pass the
subject without learning anything which is not a good idea. Actually this is
what we are doing right now. I realized that one should go to school for
learning’s not for good grades because not the good grades will teach you and
give you the lessons instead good grades are just the assessment. Don’t
memorize, just analyze. I guess it’s every one's habit. We tend to memorize our
lessons in school every time examinations are fast approaching without even
understanding it which I thought the most tedious thing to do. I guess once you
understand the lesson then there is no hard time for us recalling it each time
we take exams. Knowledge must be our goal in studying because it measures our
strength and potential and it is the only thing that cannot be stole by anyone.
